On My Way Home
So, the last time I told you all about the time my humans came calling. So, after mama human lifted me in her arms and told me we were going home, we got into what they called a car. At first, she just held me in her arms while daddy human drove and kid human yapped away in the rear seat. It felt so cozy, just like I did cuddling with my birth mama when I was just a newborn who couldn’t even open his eyes. So, I rested my chin on her arms and drifted away to sleep.
The car kept moving for a long time and it felt strange but mama’s arms around me made me feel safe. Then, the moving stopped. The humans all got out, mama still holding me. And what do I see? So, so many more humans all around. And more of those car things swooping in and out. I looked around, amazed, bewildered, a little confused. What is this world I’m seeing? How many humans are there? Why are they all looking at me?
Mama then took me to a secluded corner and asked me to go “pee-pee”. I didn’t know what she meant by that. Nor did I care because oh boy, there were so many new scents to take in. I went berserk. Moving around in circles, trying to sniff as much as I could. I even tried to sneak a few licks in when I thought mama wasn’t looking. But hey, nothing slips past that woman! She chided me with a “no!”, which I now know is cue for me to stop doing something she doesn’t like. But back then, those words meant nothing to me and I continued to do as I pleased until mama had had enough and lifted me up to walk back toward the car.
That’s when another set of humans came up to mama and pet me. Boy, did I love that! I threw my head back so that they could pet my neck and give me a few belly rubs but mama broke that party way before I had my fill. We got into the car again, and off we went. By now, I was hella intrigued by everything going on around me. Curling up and sleeping in mama’s arms was out of the question. So, I started climbing all over her. Licking and nibbling. She giggled and giggled. After a while, she set me down on a towel laid by her feet. With nowhere to go, I drifted off to sleep again.
Just as I had wandered into dreamland, the car stopped moving again. Was this going to be the end of this journey? Could I finally run around? I was hopeful! But no, once again the same “pee-pee” routine. I guess they didn’t get what they wanted, so the humans got me back in the car and off we went again only to stop after some time again.
Mama was making the same “pee pee” sound. God only knows what she wanted but she clearly wasn’t getting it. Meanwhile, my bladder was bursting at the seams so I let go right there by the roadside, and that seemed to have pleased mama a great deal. “Good boy, Dorgon,” she said, “You went pee-pee.” Okay, so that’s what she wanted. I could have done that the first time if I knew.
With pee-pee business out of the way, there was no stopping us now. We zipped along until the car rolled into a driveway. And three very exhausted humans and a clueless me stepped out. “You’re home, baby,” mama said and set me down in what seemed like an endless stretch of fresh, green grass. I ran around, with the humans chasing after me hysterically. I was home.
